What is Pilates?
Pilates is a strengthening and rehabilitative system of movement that utilizes machines specially designed to maximize results. It is also a complete mind-body fitness program. You will not only enjoy a challenging and highly effective workout, but you will learn about musculature, proper alignment, and injury prevention while you do it.

The goals of Pilates are healthy alignment, pelvic stability, and integration of the breath with movement. The same exercises that we do in group mat classes are enhanced, and tailored to your needs in private and duet sessions on the equipment. The large Pilates equipment, such as the Reformer, Cadillac (trapeze table), Ladder Barrel, and Stability Chair, are fitted with springs, bars, and straps to ensure proper form and provide extra challenge for advanced students.
If you are already familiar with Pilates and want to take your practice to the next level, this is the place to do it! Our instructors specialize in everything from severe injury rehabilitation to streamlining accomplished athletes. We look forward to working with you and designing a program for your specific needs.
Our experienced instructors have developed their own array of specializations and teaching styles, and they will create an individualized practice for you that will help you achieve your goals. Their backgrounds as dancers, personal trainers, sports medicine specialists, athletes, outdoor adventure enthusiasts, and massage therapists make our staff creative, well rounded, and knowledgeable.
Why Try Pilates?
Do you spend too much of your day at a computer or in the car? Do you need to revive your fitness routine? Pilates is suited for all ages and fitness levels. We can help you realign your posture and find strength, mobility, and energy that you've never had before.

Are you active and want to be stronger at your sport? Our clients run faster marathons, become more adept at rock climbing, and improve their golf swings. Pilates will help you reconnect with neglected muscle groups to facilitate optimal performance.
Have you hit a plateau in your workout? Pilates can complement your fitness routine, and it will help you continue to be active and healthy for many years to come.
Are you dealing with an injury, or a degenerative condition such as MS or osteoporosis? Pilates offers a wide range of specialized solutions to optimize your health, strength, and mobility.
Will Pilates complement your other mind-body practice such as yoga, Feldenkrais®, or martial arts? You may recognize some of the positions and movement styles of Pilates. Yet, Pilates is unique in that it utilizes props that provide resistance and encourage proper positioning; targets small, stabilizing muscle groups without engaging the larger muscle groups; develops joint stability; builds strength by lengthening muscle; hones in on specific muscle function; differentiates among various muscle groups; and promotes anatomical understanding.

“Core Pilates is unique because our instructors have such an impressive variety of specializations and interests. We encourage clients to schedule private sessions with different instructors so that they can experience new teaching styles. We won't let your fitness program hit a plateau!”
“One of my clients was in a debilitating accident and started rehabilitation through Pilates. Now he is even stronger and more flexible than he was before the accident, and he is able to thrive in his active lifestyle.”
“Teaching prenatal fitness and postpartum rehabilitation is rewarding because I believe that it provides women with the skills, knowledge, and strength they need for one of the most important times in their lives.”
“I've been dedicated to a healthy lifestyle and movement my entire life. I hope to bring energy, education, and a heightened sense of awareness to each of my clients.”
Recommendations
Pilates can be done daily. We recommend one to three times a week to get started.
We recommend beginning with one or more private or duet session. This will provide an opportunity for an instructor to set individual goals and better evaluate your needs. If private or duet sessions do not fit your budget or schedule, feel free to drop in to one of our beginning group mat classes.
Some people feel more comfortable working with one instructor while others prefer working with several. We want you to feel comfortable to choose which approach works best for you. Therefore, you are welcome and encouraged to work with a single instructor or a more than one instructor as a way to benefit from the multiple teaching styles and approaches that we have to offer.
You can kick-start your progress by attending group mat classes in addition to your private or duet sessions. Group mat classes are also a great way to learn a program that you can practice at home or on the go.
We suggest wearing a fitted shirt and/or tank top, workout pants or biker shorts, and socks.
If you have any injuries or health concerns, please consult your doctor before you plan to begin a Pilates program.
